FLOWER IN THE RIVER

In creating Natalie Zett's website for her book "Flower in the River," the primary goal was to create a visually pleasing website that effectively told the story of her family member who died in the Eastland Disaster.

The previous website lacked essential elements such as call-to-action buttons and it overwhelmed visitors with excessive text. Given the importance of maintaining the richness of the family history presented in the book, the challenge was to reorganize the content for optimal readability while preserving the narrative's depth.

Leveraging an image of the book against a gray wall, reminiscent of concrete, served as the design inspiration. This texture was consistently applied throughout the site, accompanied by a unique squiggle line that added a distinctive touch, resembling waves to tie into the book's theme.

The color palette, a thoughtful blend of blues from both the logo and the water theme in the book, along with the red from the book title, resulted in a soothing yet commanding visual experience.

Strategic placement of links to major platforms such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Apple Books was essential for easy accessibility and purchase options.

Once the website launched, Natalie secured opportunities to be featured on several podcasts, providing a platform to share her book and family story with a wider audience. The redesigned website, with its harmonious aesthetics and user-friendly features, played a crucial role in elevating the overall presentation of "Flower in the River" and amplifying its reach.

Here’s what Natalie said about working together:

“Jessica brought my vision to life in the most remarkable way. I couldn't be more proud of the impact my website is making. Just this morning, I received another show booking thanks to the host's favorable impression of my site. It's thrilling to witness the attention and recognition pouring in.”
