Bold Nonprofit Website Redesign for an Israel-Based Ministry - Built to Drive Donations and Bookings
ONE LEV ONE HEART
One Lev One Heart Ministry was founded in 2016 by Ilan and Lori Kate Lowenhar, a husband and wife team who have called the Galilee home for over 25 years. Their music blends Soul, Gospel, Blues, and Bossa Nova with a distinctive Middle Eastern expression, and everything they do is rooted in the reality of actually living in Israel, not just singing about it from a distance. They travel to churches across the US and internationally to share their music and a firsthand perspective on life in Israel.
They needed a website that could keep up with all of it.
The Problem
The old site was outdated in just about every way that matters. The photos didn't reflect the current group and functionally it was leaving a lot on the table. There was no way to donate online, no way to purchase their two albums, and no way to book them for a concert or speaking engagement.
For a ministry that relies on donations and live events to sustain their work, that's a significant gap.
The site also wasn't giving Lori Kate's speaking ministry the visibility it needed to attract new bookings. The whole thing needed to be rebuilt from the ground up.
THE SOLUTION
One Lev has a beautiful logo, and it basically handed me the color palette. The logo pulls together blue, purple, red, and yellow, and I carried those throughout the site as accent colors.
Rather than using them as background colors, which would have been too intense given how vibrant they are, I used them strategically on subheading highlights, buttons, and other accent elements. I also created a gradient bar that weaves all of those colors together, which shows up throughout the site and ties everything together visually.
One of the most important design decisions was the imagery. Rather than relying entirely on performance photos, I curated a collection of landscape images from their homeland. The rolling hills of the Jezreel Valley and the Sea of Galilee are stunning, and they do a lot of work on the page. A visitor lands on the site and immediately understands where One Lev is from before they've read a single word.
On the functional side, the new site addresses every gap the old one had. Booking forms are placed strategically across multiple pages so that hiring One Lev for a concert or a speaking event is easy. Their albums are available to purchase directly through the site. And perhaps most significantly, the site now accepts online donations.
The donation page in particular deserves its own mention, because it goes well beyond a simple giving form. For nonprofits looking to increase donations, this is the kind of page that actually converts.
It explains exactly what a donation does, breaks down six levels of giving with a clear description of the impact each one has, and includes a testimonial from someone whose life has been touched by the ministry. Giving someone a reason to donate is one thing. Showing them exactly what their money does and letting them hear from someone it has already impacted is something else entirely.
Lori Kate's speaker page, Heart2Heart, got the full treatment as well. It establishes her as a credible and experienced speaker with images from past events, a breakdown of the topics she speaks on, videos from previous engagements and television interviews, and a blog featuring honest reflections and stories from life in Israel.
The Result
One Lev now has a beautiful website that represents who they are in a way their old site never could. They're already directing people to it at concerts and receiving donations through the site. They've been doing the work for years, and now the website can do what it was always supposed to do — support the mission.
Here’s what Lori Kate said about working together:
“Our new site is fantastic! It feels so good to see all the info about One Lev in one location with dynamic photos and descriptions and an attractive approach.
Jessica knows her website design! She is talented and is patient, listens, and really tries to understand our ministry well in order to give us the desired outcome we needed and wanted. You will be extremely excited and satisfied seeing your business or ministry blossom!”
